1. Definitions
Cookies are small text files that the websites visited by users send to their terminals, where they are stored before being retransmitted to the same sites on the next visit. The cookies of so-called “third parties” are instead set by a website other than the one being visited by the user. This is because every site may contain elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages from other domains, etc.) which reside on servers other than those of the site visited.
2. Types of cookies
– Technical cookies. Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service” (cf. art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). They are not used for any further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies where used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; functional cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria in order to improve the service rendered to them. The installation of such cookies does not require prior consent of the users, while the obligation to provide information pursuant to art. 13 of the Code remains, which the site manager, if using only such devices, may provide in the manner it deems most appropriate.
– Profiling cookies. Profiling cookies are designed to create profiles relating to the user and are used for the purpose of sending advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the internet. Due to the particular invasiveness that such devices can have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation requires that the user be adequately informed about their use and thus express their valid consent. Art. 122 of the Code refers to them where it states that “the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has given their consent after being informed in the simplified manner referred to in article 13, paragraph 3” (art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code) and article 13 of the GDPR.
3. Third-party cookies
When visiting this website, cookies may be received from sites managed by other organisations (“third parties”). An example is represented by the presence of “social plugins” for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn, or systems for displaying embedded multimedia content such as Youtube and Flickr. These are parts generated directly by the above-mentioned sites and integrated into the web page of the visited host site. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by the relevant policies to which we ask you to refer. 4. Analytics cookies / WebTrends
For the sole purpose of monitoring and improving the performance of the site, we use a market product for statistical analysis to detect access to the site. It may use cookies, permanent and otherwise, in order to collect statistical information and information on “unique visitors” to the site. Cookies, defined as “Unique Visitor Cookies”, contain an alphanumeric code that identifies browsing computers, without however collecting any personal data.
5. Google Analytics
The site also includes components transmitted by Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). 6. Duration of cookies
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or the logout command is executed. Other cookies “survive” the closing of the browser and are available in subsequent visits by the user. These cookies are called persistent and their duration is set by the server at the time of their creation. In some cases an expiry date is set, in others the duration is unlimited.
7. Cookie management
The user can decide whether or not to accept cookies using their browser settings.

Disabling “third party” cookies does not in any way affect navigability.
The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. In addition, browsers allow different settings to be defined for “proprietary” cookies and for “third party” ones. For example, in Firefox, through the Tools->Options->Privacy menu, it is possible to access a control panel where you can define whether or not to accept the different types of cookies and proceed to remove them.
